Mal becomes Buddhist after Inara dies. He’s having some trouble remaining peaceable though.
Zoe has a kid and has remarried. She’s the de facto leader of the New Resistance.
Wash and Book are still dead. They repose in extreme awesomeness.
Simon and Kaylee broke up but remain friends. Which is not to say there isn’t a sappy wave every now and again.
Simon is the best field medic working for the New Resistance.
River is not crazy. Mal contends she has to be a little bit still to fly his ship that way.
Kaylee is the best mechanic in the Outer Rim and runs her own shop. She and River spend much of their spare time designing the next generation of space ship.
Jayne has his own ship and crew now and is making a small fortune for himself smuggling supplies to Zoe’s people.
The Operative is helping train Zoe’s Alliance spies.
Badger is still a sneaky little bastard.
Patience controls two moons now.
The Reavers have mostly died out but there’s still a raid on occasion.

And you probably hate quite a lot of that which I just made up pretty non-seriously off the top of my head because that’s what second and third seasons are for.
